Green Facade on a Newly Insulated Building

22. 6. 2015

The appearance of green discolouration on the render of a recently insulated building has been observed in recent years as a frequent problem. The airtightness of the insulation cladding — which in our experience consists of polystyrene in ninety percent of cases — promotes the formation of colonies of algae, moss and other organisms. Their proliferation results in the green discolouration of the building. Insufficient knowledge among property owners about how to properly care for a facade contributes to the appearance of this contamination.
Even manufacturers of insulation systems recommend washing an airtight facade at least once every five years. At Umyjemto, we carry out this preventive facade washing routinely using specialist equipment.
Alongside washing, it is recommended to reapply an antimicrobial coating, which prevents microorganisms from settling on the facade. We will provide surface treatment for your building so that not only is the vibrant colour restored, but the building is also preserved for the future through the disinfection carried out.
